eSpring UV water purifier

eSpring UV Water Purifier

#helpstop1000000plasticwaterbottles from going into the dump in 2021! Are you in for the challenge? (Each cartridge ~ 10000 bottles)

I don’t usually blog about products or goods but this one I need too. We have lived in The Oranges for over 10 years now. Early on, we noticed we did not like the taste of the tap water. Consequently, we invested in a water purifier system and that did not work for us. The tap water still had a taste we did not like.

We therefore decided to buy drinking water but still used the tap water to cook and wash. Recently, we had a water demo done for us and we got a whole lot of information. We realized that the failure of the prior purification system may have been due to pharmaceutical impurities in our tap water. You can see what other impurities are in your tap water by clicking on this link and enter your zip code; https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/

We got introduced to the eSpring UV water purifier system. We bought an under the counter unit that I happily installed (am handy- LOL) The installation was a DIY project I had to buy a 3 way pipe adapter from Home Depot. Being a scientist by education, I tested the system by having our youngest daughter do a taste test. I served her two cups of water, one, straight from the tap, the other, from the eSpring purifier system. Her reaction was priceless. The city tap water she immediately frowned upon sipping it and gave me a dreaded look, and the water through the eSpring unit, she drank the entire cup.

Yes! The eSpring water purifier is phenomenal (click on the image to learn more). An added benefit, we have now also reduced our carbon footprint. We do not have as much plastic to recycle anymore, that’s 10000 plastic water bottles less in the dump every year! More so, we freely enjoy a cup of drinking water by heading to the kitchen sink and just turning the eSpring faucet on!

Now over to you…with all the recent news of lead in drinking water for some towns, what are you doing to take control of the situation in your tap water? We cannot always rely on the Government to do everything, we too need to take action to protect our health and safety!

#Women’sHistoryMonth

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, I felt this article can add value to someone. Mastery is achieved via repeating small steps on a daily basis. Our daughter has exemplified such a character and the limits are unknown…(anyway, who says there should be limits on what one can achieve…the only limits are those we self inflict upon ourselves by our own thinking). What one thinketh, so is he/she!

Eagle Flight School in East Orange certainly deserve kudos for the opportunity they have given to aspiring pilots. It would not be easy without such wonderful people.

I am What I Eat?

We live in a highly industrialized economy and a time when information is extremely valuable. While these is good, a couple aspects of our nutrition does get overlooked. If the statement, “I am what I eat” holds true! Then, I would like to eat only fresh produce – fruits and vegetables – and fresh meats. This desire however is a major challenge. Even when one buys foods from retail outlets that offer ‘fresh’ produce, fresh has a different meaning.

Fresh in our industrialized society may mean ‘still fit for human consumption’ and not necessarily ‘picked up or harvested’ today and made available the same day for sale. The challenge to harvest and make available for sale the same day especially in the developed nations is massive. Consequently, by the time, the ‘fresh’ produce reaches the customer, it is not really fresh fresh, but just convenient for consumption. Anyway, what is the big deal about freshness?

Any Evidence?

Research has shown that fresh produce (fruits and vegetables) start to lose nutrients within a couple hours after being harvested. https://www.chicagotribune.com/dining/ct-xpm-2013-07-10-chi-most-produce-loses-30-percent-of-nutrients-three-days-after-harvest-20130710-story.html Unfortunately, by the time, most of these fruits and vegetables hit the stores, it has been days, weeks or a year since harvest. Thanks (or maybe no thanks) to the technology of cold rooms. As a results, consuming these produce does not help us meet the nutritional requirements (Vitamins, Minerals, Phytonutrients) we need to keep strong and healthy and fight simple ailments like colds and flu. Needless to add, the high degree of processing and processed foods available.

A story to say it all

A story to drive the point home. We had just bought some fresh apples from the store. I could not wait to dig my teeth into one of them. I cleaned it, and was about to enjoy it, all excited when a friend from a farming State commented; “Last year apples!” Dumbfounded I looked at the apple and could not understand how. She added, “think of it this way, by the time those apples were harvested, processed, packaged and delivered to all the supermarkets that sells that brand, how long do you think that took?” Before I could answer, she added, these is last year’s harvest. They harvested them, processed them and stored them in a cold room for this year’s sales. How else do you explain being able to buy out of season fruits? To drive the nail into the wood, she exclaimed, “I live there, I have seen it with my own eye!” The fresh, red, delicious, tasty looking apple was no more but just fiber at best….

Workable Solution

Let me leave you with the solution we turned to. While we still consume the fruits and vegetables…(I mean we have too). We took upon supplementation to fill that gap left behind by the lack of the necessary nutrients. After doing our due diligence, we found that only Nutrilite Brand grows, harvests and processes from seed to supplement in their own organic certified farms. Not only that, but each supplement has it own record, and also they are NSF certified. https://amwy.me/1K7qdXoA7 (Concentrated Fruit and Vegetable supplement) and Vitamin C (all day) https://amwy.me/BMK10hBLN

Over to you, take some action to better your health, won’t you?
